  • Chaotic Neutral, a "colorless" sounding reverberation.
  • Nonlin, a modern representation of 1980s gated reverb algorithms.
  • Sanctuary, which emulates a "a classic German digital reverberator from the 1970s".
  • Random Space and Smooth Room, which are inspired by or emulate "late 1980s" reverb hardware.
  • Chamber, a "transparent" algorithm described as being "smooth yet dense".
  • Plate, emulating an "early 1980s" reverb in "plate" mode.
  • Concert Hall, emulating a "late 1970s and early 1980s" reverb in "hall" mode.
  • Īs of November 2019, the plugin has 18 different algorithms, including: It is possible to change the decay rate of different frequencies, and the early and late diffusion can have separate settings. This plugin has been used in the songs Hello and Water Under the Bridge by Adele, as well as on Lana Del Rey's album "Lust for Life". Valhalla Vintage Verb is an plugin with the sounds of various late 1970s and 1980s digital reverberators, including ones which sound like Lexicon and EMT reverbs. They also felt that its user interface could use some improvement. One review felt that, while Valhalla Room sounds really good, it sounds more "hyper-real and lush" than "gritty and realistic". ValhallaDSP says this reverb is best for "idealized room impressions". Valhalla Room is a reverb plugin which mainly simulates the acoustics of realistic rooms and halls, although it can also be used for special effects. These plugins are designed primarily to provide reverberation effects. ValhallaDSP makes a combination of reverb, delay, and sound effect plugins. ĭon Gunn has helped Sean Costello with R&D/preset design for ValhallaDSP's plugins. Before Valhalla DSP, Sean Costello had his first plugin work made public when he provided four reverb algorithms for the Audio Damage EOS reverb plugin which was initially released in 2009 one of those four algorithms was not available until 2017, when Audio Damage released EOS 2. ValhallaDSP was founded in 2009 Sean worked as an audio DSP designer and consultant for about a decade before founding his own company. He has co-written academic papers about reverberation, including a 2009 paper about using algorithmic reverberation with the Ambisonics system and a paper about implementing a digital simulation of a spring reverb.

Sean Costello has always been interested in the interaction between musicians and the academic and professional worlds. Kristin Costello handles graphics and marketing. You can see all this gear in his tour racks and the shimmer stuff comes in around 3 min mark.ValhallaDSP as a company was founded by Sean Costello, who handles coding. I think it can do a detuned sound, so it's possibly not changing pitch as much as an octave. It certainly does lots of U2 stuff, but I don't know that it changes the pitch enough. The Edge is well known for using the KORG SDD-3000 Digital Delay. If you have SoundToys Crystallizer and run that into a long reverb it might also work. Not sure, as early Eventide harmonizers were noisy. Also, the Eventide H910 might do the pitch thing correctly for this. I'm certain other people have gotten the shimmer effect using a EMT 250 as the reverb. These won't sound exactly like the above plugs, but it might work.

Place a second Mod Delay with a chorused delay.

Try to ghetto rig using legacy plugins! Precision Mod Delay (possibly Precision Mod Delay L) to pitch the delayed signal +1 octave. So pitch > modulated long reverb > modulated delay > mess with the lengths of the feedback loop. By controlling the gain and equalization of the feedback loop, and the lengths of the various delays within the loop, the temporal evolution of the sound can be altered from steel drum-esque sounds to the slow attack “string pads” heard on many of the Eno/Lanois tracks. Create a feedback loop, incorporating a pitch shifter set to +1 octave, and a reverb with a fairly long decay time.
